The Dog and His Reflection
The fable “The Dog and His Reflection”, told for kids card by card, with its illustrations and Fabi's voice. At the end, its moral.
Fabi tells you the story-

Card 1 of 6
A Bread Roll for the Journey
Dog was crossing a wooden bridge with a golden bread roll in his mouth. His dark ears swayed and his turquoise collar shone in the sunlight. Beneath the planks ran a stream with water as clear as a mirror.
DogMy bread roll smells so good.
DogI will carry it carefully and enjoy it later.

Card 2 of 6
Someone Under the Bridge
Halfway across the bridge, Dog looked down at the water. He thought he saw another dog with a bread roll just like his own. He did not know he was looking at his own reflection, which copied his every movement.
DogThere is another dog down there with a bread roll like mine.
DogHe even tilts his head at the same time as me!
-

Card 3 of 6
The Thought of Having Two
Dog imagined how wonderful it would be to have two bread rolls instead of one. He leant a little further over the water, still holding his roll in his mouth. He was so busy thinking about getting another that he stopped appreciating his own.
DogIf I could get that bread roll, I would have two.
DogI will move just a little closer.

Card 4 of 6
An Unexpected Splash
Dog opened his mouth to ask for the other bread roll. At that moment, his only roll fell towards the stream. When it touched the water, little circles broke up the reflection. The supposed dog disappeared among the ripples.
DogHey, you with the bread roll!
DogOh, no! I have dropped mine!
-

Card 5 of 6
The Truth in the Water
From the bank, Dog watched his bread roll gently float away. When the water grew still again, he recognised his ears and collar in it. He realised there had never been another dog or a second bread roll.
DogIt was me. The water was reflecting my own image.
DogBy wanting two bread rolls, I dropped the one I had.
-

Card 6 of 6
A Wiser Return
Dog returned to the path and left the clear stream behind. He no longer had his bread roll, but he paid more attention to the world around him. He would remember that experience before wanting something just because it seemed within reach.
DogNext time, I will look more carefully.
DogAnd I will take care of what I already have.
